Experience Cutting Edge Power Alternatives at the Renowned Southwest Research Institute

Date: Wednesday, October 1, 2025
Time: 3 pm to 6 pm
Transportation and Refreshments Provided

Join us for an exclusive, complimentary tour of the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), located just minutes from the Data Center World POWER venue. This immersive experience offers a behind-the-scenes look at world-class laboratories advancing hydrogen energy, next-generation cooling, and resilient power systems for future data centers.

SwRI is a premier nonprofit R&D institute supporting over 4,000 projects across 2.5 million square feet of lab and test space on its 1,500-acre San Antonio campus. With deep expertise in hydrogen, power generation, energy storage, and environmental testing, SwRI develops practical, scalable solutions for the data center and energy industries.

On this guided tour, you’ll visit the following cutting-edge facilities:

  • Battery Testing and PV Arrays – Evaluate battery energy storage systems, solar-powered microgrids, and future renewable-to-hydrogen integration.
  • Hydrogen Fuel Cell and Engine Labs – Test advanced fuel cells for mobility and stationary power, hydrogen ICEs, and grid-interactive systems.
  • Liquid Hydrogen (LH₂) Tank Facility – See a working LH₂ infrastructure with 4,500 kg capacity supporting power, cooling, and fuel delivery research.
  • Heat Exchanger Test Lab – View purpose-built setups for data center cooling R&D, including pump and exchanger validation.
  • Physical and Environmental Testing – A one-stop shop for simulating conditions like earthquakes, heat, rain, and wind to certify system durability.

Whether you're exploring backup power, grid resiliency, thermal innovation, or hydrogen integration, this tour will showcase how SwRI helps accelerate next-generation energy strategies—particularly for AI and high-density data infrastructure.
